Despite going around for a quick spin in her heat, Lisa DeLeeuw bounced back with a podium finish in the b-main to qualify for the main event, and post a top-20 finish against the best of the province.

As noted the DY Racing driver didn’t have the best start to the night as starting on pole for her first heat, she’d get sideways off of turn two and go around for a quick spin. She’d get the car back running, crossing the finish line in eighth, followed by a seventh in her second qualifier. Unfortunately, she was not one of the top-18 drivers, forcing her to partake in the 20-lap b-main to qualify for the feature.

Starting off up front, she battled side-by-side with Doug Wilman for third in the opening laps till the first caution flew at Lap 5. On the restart, the pair resumed their battle, with DeLeeuw getting the position on Lap 7. After a second caution at Lap 8, she’d fall back to fourth as Wilman passed her back, but DeLeeuw didn’t give up, though, getting back alongside Wilman for the spot as the third caution flew for Wakeling going around in turn four.

She wouldn’t get as strong a restart as intended, resulting in battle side-by-side with Eric Rainey for fourth. DeLeeuw held him off, clearing him on Lap 16, and then resuming her battle with Wilman as she got back alongside for third with two laps to go. The pair ran side-by-side through the final laps, with DeLeeuw crossing the finish line in the third position.

Starting the main event in 20th, she remained there till the first caution flew at Lap 5. Even though she’d go a lap down in the second half of the feature, she continued to battle hard and crossed the finish line in 20th. For DeLeeuw, it marks a solid improvement after finishing 25th on opening night in her new ride.
